I paint the people and animals I live alongside, mostly in the slow, unremarkable parts of the day.
Katie works in oil from a small studio at home. She paints from life wherever she can — a sister reading, a cat asleep on a blue sheet, a kitchen at seven in the morning — and from photographs when the subject won’t sit still, which with cats is most of the time.
Her paintings are quiet on purpose. Thin glazes first, thicker paint last, with plenty of patience in between. Every piece is an original, signed on the front and the back, and packed by her.

Commissions
How a commission works
Most commissions take four to eight weeks from the first photos to the parcel. Katie takes a small number each season.
Step 1: Send photos
A few good photos and a line or two about who it is and where it will hang.
Step 2: Sketch & quote
Katie replies with a composition idea, a size and a fixed price. A 30% deposit secures the slot.
Step 3: Painting
She paints over a few weeks and sends a progress photo along the way.
Step 4: Delivery
Once dry and varnished, it’s signed, packed and sent tracked and insured.

A rough guide
Prices are for one subject, unframed. A second person or pet adds around a third.

Questions
Can you paint from an old photo?
Yes — as long as the face is clear. Several angles help, even if they’re blurry.
Do you paint pets on their own?
Yes, happily. Cats, dogs, anything that will (roughly) sit still. A pet on its own is priced the same as a person.
Can it be framed?
Paintings arrive unframed, so you can choose a frame to suit the room. Katie is glad to suggest what might work.
What if I don’t like it?
You’ll see the composition before any paint goes down and a progress photo along the way, so there’s room to change course early. If something isn’t right, tell Katie.
Can I give a commission as a gift?
Yes. Mention it’s a gift when you get in touch, and say if there’s a date it needs to be ready for.
